Introducing...

John "Dylan" Lock
Born December 19, 2009 -4:03am
6 lbs. 1 oz - 19 inches

Practically perfect in every way.

To make a long story short, I started having contractions on Friday afternoon, they started getting faster and stronger, went to hospital, and had a baby ! (Can you tell I'm too tired to give details right now?)

Proud mom and dad

Jenna trying to hold Dylan. She more of wanted to grab him and carry him around like a doll, so for now she just gets to kiss him or "pet" him. She was very interested in him but a little confused because anytime he would cry, Jenna asked "Why baby Jesus crying?"

Might have to do a whole other blog post about Jenna's reaction to Dylan.

Jenna has shared her animal toys with Dylan.
My TWO babies!

John, Jeb, John Dylan and Sam

Aunt Valerie meeting her one and only newphew.

We had tons of friends and family visit the past two days. I wasn't great about getting pictures with everyone but so thankful to have so much love and support. I promise to post more tomorrow when we get home!

She's a brick HOUSE!

I must be short on blogging material or just crazy, but here is a belly shot of me at almost 37 weeks! Every day I've been doing little things to get ready for this baby. I even put the car seat in my car yesterday- a very weird feeling to have two cars seats in my car! I've been washing clothes and blankets and just can't imagine that Jenna was ever small enough to fit into anything that tiny. This pregnancy has been very different and much harder on me than my last. I go from complaining to feeling so grateful to have this life inside me. I'm just ready to meet Dylan and hold him.
It's also been kind of different, being 9 months pregnant, with a boy, during the month of Christmas. We went to Bethlehem Nights at a Castle Hills First Baptist last weekend and they turned their courtyard into the town of Bethlehem. You walk around and get to "feel" what it was like in Bethlehem during the census. Everyone is dressed in character and they even had live animals. It was a really neat experience and had even more meaning as I waddled around "Bethlehem" carrying my own son. I can only imagine what was going through Mary's mind that night.

So here I am, in all my glory. People keep asking me if I was this big with Jenna. No. I've stopped asking or looking at my weight when I go to the dr. I've started progressing (I'll spare you the details) so it looks like we could have a baby sooner than later!

Here's Your Christmas Card

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is sending and receiving Christmas cards. I LOVE getting the mail during December and seeing precious pictures of my friends and family. But this year since we will also have a birth announcement to send out in January, sending Christmas cards the month before just didn't make sense. It's a lot of work and postage is so expensive these days. So I've decided to do a Happy New Year/Birth Announcement card next year. BUT if I was going to send a Christmas card, these are some pictures I might include. My sweet friend, Amy, took these pictures a few months ago at the Japanese Tea Garden. Jenna was, well Jenna, and running around like crazy, so I didn't expect a single shot to not be blurry. But Amy was able to capture these few precious moments!
So here's your Christmas card...

Merry Christmas!
Love,
Jeb, Sarah, and Jenna Joy Lock

May you have a blessed and wonderful holiday season!

Deck the Halls!

Starting last weekend, we began decorating the house for Christmas. Last year, I bought Jenna this cute little tree at an after Christmas sale. I was really excited about her having her own tree and getting to decorate it herself. Being my mother's daughter, I have all these "fantasies" of how things should go and traditions I want to start. But Jenna usually has her own plan or ideas...

Jenna had no interest in putting the ornaments on the tree. She just wanted to line them up repeatedly. I stopped putting them back on the tree, so now she just has a bare tree with ornaments on the ground around it. Not so much what I was picturing when I bought it.

Something about this look, tells me that she knows this is annoying me.

Daddy was very helpful this year putting up the decorations. Want a cute Santa hat picture- no way says Jenna!

Jenna has always been very "interested" in Mary and baby Jesus. She plays with her Little People Nativity scene year round. She puts towels on her head and says she's Mary. So when I got out this Nativity scene this year, Jenna was fascinated. They basically stay on the floor all day. Jenna's favorite game is to stand them all up, then knock each one down, cradle them and say, "Oh Mary, you OK? Poor Mary" or "Oh, wiseman on camel, you OK?" or "Excuse me Joseph" and then she starts all over.

We went to see Santa today. I forgot to take my camera so I could document the drama. Luckily, we went during the day ,on a weekday, so there was no line. Jenna was not feeling Santa at first- she cried, clung to us and refused to sit on his lap. So we took a lap around the mall and tried again. This time we took it slow, Jeb and I both sat in the chair with Santa, he sang Jingle Bells to her and talked to her for a really long time. Again, thankful there was no line. This was the best smile we could get. I can't get over how big she looks in this picture. Makes me kinda sad. And strange to think next year she'll be sitting with her almost one year old brother!

And if you're easily offended then please stop reading but this just made me giggle so I thought I'd share it with those of you that share my weird sense of humor. I guess that mainly means my dad.
Jeb and Jenna were picking up before bedtime and Jeb was putting the Nativity scene back up. Jenna thought she'd help...

That would be a naked Cinderella doll.
Merry Christmas! I can already tell it's going to be a fun holiday season!

New Name Ideas?

People keep asking me what I am going to change the blog to when I have Dylan. I honestly don't have an answer, so I was hoping you could help me. I guess the web address will have to stay the same but I need help with a new blog header/title. Should it be The Joy of Jenna and Dylan? Or should I come up with something totally different and new? Ideas?

Since I can't do a blog post without a picture of miss Jenna. Here is Jenna wishing you a Happy 4th of Thanksgiving? Most kids dressed up like pilgrims or Indians but Jenna decided to dress up like Uncle Sam. Gotta love her.

Hmmmm.....

I copied this picture from my friend Amy's blog. Amy is Evan's mom and if you remember, I did a blog post about Evan recently. Jenna LOVES Evan. She talks about him all the time, prays for him at night and lights up when she sees him. We went to Evan's birthday party this Friday and Amy took a picture of some of the kiddos.
DO YOU SEE MY DAUGHTER? WHAT IS SHE DOING!?

1) This is NOT even Evan.
2) That is Noah, a boy that she just met that day!
3) I think I was standing right there when the picture was taken and did not notice any hanky panky going on.
4) Isn't a 2 year old party a little young for kissing games!?

OK- Just had to share this pic because it made me laugh out loud. Thanks Amy! Jenna might be able to hang out at your house when she's like 30.

Wildlife Ranch

Yesterday, Jeb had off for Veteran's Day so we headed to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch with Grandma, Pop Pop, Uncle Sam, and Derek. We all had a great time. We drove around the park and fed the animals. I think Jenna's favorite part was that she got to ride in the car, not in her car seat.

Checking out the animals. Sadly, I didn't know what half of them were!

The zebras were quite "friendly" and SO beautiful close up.

Jenna of course had no fear.

Mom was a different story. This guy came right in and sneezed all over me. And my sweet husband thought it would be so funny to lock the window so I couldn't roll it up! True Love.

Lots of ostriches, who are also not shy.
Come on in!

Next, we hit the petting zoo, which was just goats. Jenna had the need to pet EVERY single goat. And she managed to do it.

This was the best shot I could get of Jenna and her cousin Derek. They are about 5 months apart and always have a fun time together.
My favorite part were the beautiful giraffes. I could have stared at them all day.

We had a picnic lunch and then headed home. Jenna fell asleep in about 2 minutes. What a perfect day!
